Camp Kenosha Scrimmage and Tailgate (2009)
August 22, 2009. Northwestern held its 122nd football season kick-off scrimmage with 600 season ticket holders, alumni, and friends in attendance at George N. Tremper High School in Kenosha. Despite cloudy skies and cool temperatures, football was in the air.
John Mack, NU Athletic Department and coordinator of this years scrimmage said, “We were very pleased to see 600 season ticket holders and alumni from the Milwaukee and Chicago region turn out for this pre-season event. It gives our fans a chance too see the team perform right at the end of summer camp, and enjoy the tailgate party with family and friends."
This year’s event (at $8/person for non-season ticket holders) was the best show in town with exciting Northwestern football, and all you can eat and drink on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Coach Pat Fitzgerald said of the scrimmage, “Our competitive depth may be as high as it's ever been. We've got a lot of young players who, I think, are going to be impact players, at the minimum, on the kicking game. That was encouraging to see. . . But a lot of little details and little things need to be cleaned up. “
Northwestern opens their 2009 season on Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Evanston at 11am CT again Towson.
