Young Professional Series Chicago: "North Pole '09: Challenge, Climate Change and Choice"

Date:
Nov 19 2008

Join the NU Club of Chicago Young Alumni Committee and the Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA) for the Young Professional Series event:

North Pole ’09: Challenge, Climate Change and Choice

In March of 2009, John Huston (WCAS99) and his expedition partner, Tyler Fish, will attempt to become the first Americans to ski unsupported to the North Pole. Due to the rapidly melting sea ice of the Arctic Ocean, this 55-day, 475-mile expedition may not be possible in 10 years. Huston and Fish approach this immense challenge with optimism, humility, and responsible action. This digital multimedia presentation will focus on the quest for the North Pole and how the team's deliberate approach to this challenge can be applied to larger contexts. John will also discuss how our society's energy choices are dramatically impacting the Arctic. View stunning photographs, and hear stories from Huston's 72-day expedition on Greenland in 2005 and his 57-day expedition to the South Pole last winter.
