NU Club of Portland -- Oregon Food Bank Volunteer Event (2009)

Date:
Oct 17 2009

The NU Club of Portland is participating in Northwestern's Make a Difference Day, coinciding with Annual Oregon Food Bank Volunteer Day,

Make a Difference Day is a national community service program in which groups of Northwestern students go to Evanston and Chicago neighborhoods to participate in various hands-on volunteer opportunities.

This year, all local and national alumni clubs have been invited to participate in Make A Difference Day. The date was selected to help kickoff Homecoming Week on campus.

Event Details

The Club is encouraging local alumni and friends to work at the Oregon Food Bank from 9am to 12noon. The Club has participated in this activity for several years, and it's always a popular event. Volunteers repack donated food, affix labels to cans, sort and bag produce, and help prepare food for Oregon's hungry. A tour of the facilities is available.

Questions? Contact Barbara Cullicott at cullicott@hevanet.com. Please email to volunteer. Deadline to register is October 10 to allow the Food Bank to plan for staffing and to assure adequate numbers of volunteers.

Minimum age for participants is 12.

The NAA is challenging all 63 local and national alumni clubs to help Make A Difference! It is hoped that over 1,000 hours of alumni community service can be accumulated. The club that has the most community service hours for the Make A Difference Day activities will receive a special treat from the NAA and will be highlighted on the NAA web site.
