NU Club of Rockford -- Head of the Rock Regatta (2009)
It’s time for rowing, rowing, rowing on the river! The Head of the Rock Regatta will take place on Sunday, October 11. The Northwestern Crew Team will be in town to compete and the Club will be there to cheer them on.
Event Details
Northwestern supporters will gather south of the Log Lodge near the YMCA (on the east side of the river, just north of downtown Rockford) throughout the full day of racing -- day begins around 8:45am and ends around 3:30pm.
Rockford's annual Regatta draws teams from far and near, including the Big 10 schools and beyond. The Wildcats need support on Sunday. Come join the Club as we cheer them on and provide them with snacks.
Stop by the Northwestern tent for a little while or stay all day. Regardless of how long you can stay, please plan to drop by with some snacks to treat our team. Great ideas for refreshments include cookies, brownies, oranges, bananas, bagels cut into quarters, cream cheese, nuts, trail mix, bottles of water -- anything healthy, energizing, and easy to eat! If you are able to bring refreshments, please drop them off as early as possible (at or before 9am), so that our team can power up before their races.
If the food is non-perishable, you may bring it by the home of Joe Hodorowski, our volunteer coordinator for this event. Joe can be reached at (815) 229-1545. Look for him along with Rick Hartenberg early Sunday morning, setting up Northwestern's site on the shore.
The Head of the Rock Regatta is a great event -- Rockford's riverfront looks beautiful at this time of year, and it is easy to get caught up in the racing excitement as boat after boat races by the crowd. Come be part of the action! Cheer on the Wildcats in Rockford on Sunday, October 11th!
