NU Club of Seattle -- Make a Difference Day (2009)
Next month, NU alums everywhere will join forces for Make A Difference Day. Back in Evanston, Northwestern students participate in this national community service program every fall. The program unites the NU community and sends groups of student volunteers into local neighborhoods to participate in various hands-on volunteer opportunities.
To show support, the 63 alumni clubs hope to complete a combined 1,000 hours of community service in all cities. Come help the NU Club of Seattle contribute at least 100 hours to the total.
Event Details
The Club be working in the Giving Garden at Marra Farm, an organic urban farm where volunteers produce nearly 14,000 pounds of veggies each year for local food banks and people in need. This is a great opportunity to make a difference while learning about a worthy institution right here in our community.
We'll meet at 10am at the farm in Seattle's South Park neighborhood, and the project wraps up at 2pm. Pack a lunch and a water bottle, and wear shoes that can get muddy. This event will happen rain or shine.
