NU Club of San Diego -- SD Opera Talks About "Nabucco" (2009)

Date:
Nov 19 2009

Nabucco was Giuseppi Verdi’s first major success. Loosely based on the story of the captivity of the Jews in Babylon, this powerful opera sings of conflict and transformation of nations. Pageantry, high drama, and pathos all guide the music. Learn more and hear selections at www.sdopera.com.

Register here. RSVP by November 16.

Event Details

Warrior. Conqueror. King. Nation after nation has fallen to Nabucco’s Babylonian might. Now he has destroyed the Temple of Jerusalem, enslaved the Hebrews, taken their High Priest hostage and, worst of all, declared himself a god. The full wrath of the God of the Hebrews descends on Nabucco in a bolt of lightening and he goes mad. Imprisoned and desperate, Nabucco’s only hope for deliverance is to pray – to the very God he offended.

“Several years ago, I attended this exhilarating opera in the Amphitheater in Verona. It was one of the best experiences of my life!”—Teresa Norton, J67
