The Afghanistan Midwifery Project was established in 2008 after it's founder, Michelle Johnson, was stationed in Afghanistan. While in country on deployment, she worked closely with the local midwives to deliver babies and get the midwives much needed medical supplies. AMP works closely with Afghan counterparts to provide humanitarian aid in the form of medical training and supplies to women in Afghanistan. AMP exists so that in Afghanistan's near future, every birth is safe, every woman has access to medical care, and every woman is treated with dignity and respect in times of medical need.
