Who: Our panel includes Peter Carroll (Associate Professor, Northwestern University History Department - Social and cultural history of 19th and 20th century China), Lori Anne Czepiel (Partner, Perkins Coie law firm), Brad Radulovacki (Emerging Markets Investor, Hedge Fund Specialist), Adam Sachs (social media entrepreneur and Co-founder of StepOut.com) and Adam Travis (fashion entrepreneur and Co-Founder of The Supply System and General Assembly Founder of General Assembly), with Justin Baer (Investing Editor, The Wall Street Journal) as moderator.

What: A panel discussion about the emerging markets and globalization and their impact on individuals, jobs, companies, society and culture in the U.S. and the rest of the world – all you need to do is to pick up a newspaper, read articles online, watch T.V., or look at a jobs report– to know that China and India have experienced tremendous growth in the last decade, and that this pace of growth looks likely to continue in the foreseeable future.

Key Topics: What does this mean for your job, your job search, your company, your country, the products you buy, or even broader cultural or societal changes in the U.S., Asia, Europe or elsewhere? What does globalization mean for the U.S. and its workers? How can entrepreneurs harness the opportunities presented by these rapidly growing countries? What can we learn from China and India, as we experience a shift in the U.S. labor market and the U.S.’s position in the world? What barriers to entry are there in China and India due to regulations and other laws? What are successful entrepreneurs and business leaders doing to position themselves and their companies for success, given this dynamic, changing landscape?

Why: To bring alumni together and have the opportunity to learn about some of the hottest global topics facing the world today and gain insights into what it means for you and your life today and in the future. In addition to the panel programming, attendees will have the opportunity to network and mingle before and after the panel with NU alumni in a variety of fields, including advertising, marketing, finance, business, law, start-ups, journalism, technology and media, while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
