Join the NU Club of Greater New York and NU-A5 for an exciting evening on Tues., Feb. 7 from 6:30-9 p.m. at McGraw-Hill (1221 6th Ave., 50th Floor, bet. 48th and 49th St. 50th Floor) as we host a stellar panel of NU alumni who are leaders in their respective fields, including law, finance, fashion, and social media, and our special guest, Professor Carroll of NU’s Chinese History Department, discussing Emerging Markets and Globalization with a focus on China and India.

Need an idea for something sweet for your sweetie? We're going to have dinner and then make (more like, package) chocolate at the Farris and Foster's Chocolate Factory in Baldwin Park. Be there or be square, and bring a bottle of red wine if you want: Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. for dinner and 9 p.m. for chocolate!

All NUMBALUMS are welcome to park in the Regenstein lot and catch a ride on the band bus that leaves from Regenstein at 1:45 p.m. Meet at the lobby of McGaw Hall/ Welsh-Ryan Arena no later than 2:00 p.m. Tip-off is 3:00 p.m. Our uniform for the game will be a purple shirt and khaki pants. Family and friends who would like to attend the game will need to buy their own tickets.

Wine Tasting and Networking Event with UofI and UofC

Please join us on Thursday, January 26th from 7-9pm at Le Du's Wines in the West Village for a delicious Wine and Cheese Tasting. We will be sampling six hand-selected French wines and an assortment of cheese and cold meats from the famous Murray's Cheese shop. We will be taking a tour of French vineyards, which will be led by the renowned sommeilier Jean-Luc Le Du. Le Du was founded by the former Chef Sommelier at the fabulous Daniel and is his realization of a top quality retail wine store in Manhattan.

While tasting and learning about these hand-selected wines, you will be mingling and meeting other fellow alumni from Chicago based schoolsNorthwestern University, The University of Chicago, including both the College and the Booth School of Business, and The University of Illinois.

Please join the NU Club of DC on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Corcoran Gallery of Art for a private tour of the 30 Americans exhibit. Our guided tour will be begin promptly at 6:30. 30 Americans showcases a wide-ranging survey of works by many of the most important African American contemporary artists of the last three decades and explores ideas central to the American experience. Members and their guests can register for the guided tour for $12/person.

Come cheer the Northwestern Men's Basketball team as they play the Minnesota Gophers at the Barn on Sunday, January 22, at 3PM! Meet up for pre-game festivities at Stub & Herbs beforehand at 1PM. Wear purple and GO CATS!

Please join fellow NU Club of DC members on Saturday, January 21, 2012 for a personalized tour of the United States Capitol Building, where you will learn how Congress functions and how both Congress and the building have changed in size and stature over the past 200 years. The tour will begin at 10:30 am in the Capitol Visitor Center located on the east side of the Capitol. Although the tour itself is free, registration is required. Due to Capitol rules, the tour is limited to 30 people.

Join fellow alumni and guests for an evening of sumptuous chocolate treats and conversation in the plush Lobby at the Peninsula Hotel. For $40 you will enjoy an all you can eat chocolate buffet that includes desserts, chocolates, and hot chocolate to stay warm; $50 will include a chocolate martini.

Come Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Singaporean-style Dinner with NU author Cheryl Tan

Curious about Southeast Asian food? Join with other Northwestern alums and Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan (Medill '97), author of "A Tiger in the Kitchen: A Memoir of Food and Family," on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Cafe Asean in the West Village. We will dine on unusual appetizers and entrees such as tofu bakar and Indonesian style grilled chicken as well as dessert, all served family style.

Ms. Tan, a former writer for the Wall Street Journal and In Style magazine, will talk about her debut book, which chronicles how a thirty-something longing to reconnect with herself and the flavors of her youth, learns to infuse her New York lifestyle with the rich lessons of her Singaporean heritage. She will talk about the path that led her from Northwestern University to a book-writing career.
