Antarctica, 2009 - The NAA travelers began their journey in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. The group toured the diverse barrios (neighborhoods), from the colorful La Boca district, the charming old quarter of San Telmo and the historic Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place of the legendary Evita Peron. Next, onto Ushuaia, gateway to Antarctica and the world’s southernmost city, to embark the MS Le Diamant. Travelers cruised through the legendary Drake Passsage and toured Deception Island, Half Moon Island, Pendulum Cove and Paradise Bay.
Along the way, many penguins and leopard seals were spotted and searches ensued for the elusive humpback whale. As the journey went on through the iceberg-laden waters to Neko Harbor, Wiencke Island, and the Weddell Sea, the amazing two-week journey was concluded with a return to Buenos Aires before heading home.
