Dordogne, France 2009 - For one full week NAA travelers experienced the rhythms of everyday life in Sarlat-La-Caneda, designated by the French governments as one of the most beautiful villages in the country.   The group perused the marvelous outdoor market, a village tradition that dates to the Middle Ages.  They explored the famous caves of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, where prehistoric humans created paintings of now long-extinct species, and discovered the 14th-century castles constructed by knights during the Hundred Years’ War.  Finally, the NAA travelers sailed the Dordogne River aboard a traditional wooden gabare, the typical mode of transportation of the Perigord region for more than 150 years.
