Great Journey through Europe, 2009. NAA travelers embarked on a nine-night journey of discovery by river and rail along the storied Rhine River and into the heart of the Swiss Alps.
Travelers cruised from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland aboard the deluxe M.S. Amadeus Symphony. From Basel, alumni traveled overland through the verdant countryside and medieval villages of Switzerland to the idyllic resorts of Lucerne and Zermatt, and spent four days exploring the majestic Alps. By cog rail and the fabled Glacier Express, they traveled to Mount Pilatus and the panoramic views of Lake Lucerne. They concluded their journey aboard the open-carriage Gornergrat Bahn, one of Switzerland's famous cog railways. The group ascended 10,000 feet through pine forests for the panoramic view of Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and the Gorner Glacier.
