Big Ten Career Transitioning Networking Event Re-Cap (2009)
Alumni across the Big Ten Network came together to reconnect, expand their network, and gain career advice on September 15, 2009 for the second annual Big Ten Career Transitioning Networking Event held at the Hughes Auditorium at Northwestern's Chicago campus.
With 260 attendees across all Big Ten universities including Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin, event participation underscored the desire to reconnect with former college colleagues. Northwestern led the pack with the largest alumni presence of 78 participants.
Keynote speaker Brian Kurth, the founder of Brian Kurth + Company and VocationVacations, offered practical tips on how to achieve career goals. As the industry leader in career mentorship, transition and reinvention, Mr. Kurth shared his proven eight-step process to explore and discover a new profession. A networking session followed the lecture where participants reminisced with their fellow Big Ten alumni while forming new connections. In addition, all event attendees received a participant bio booklet inspiring continued connection with fellow alumni far past the last cocktail.
