Make A Difference Day 2009

Make A Difference Day 2009

Make A Difference Day is a national day of helping others.  In its nineteenth year, more than three million people have volunteered in their communities to accomplish hundreds of projects.

For the second year, Northwestern Alumni Association clubs have participated in Make A Difference Day in their local cities.  At the same time that alumni are volunteering in their communities, Northwestern students are making a difference in the Evanston and Chicagoland communities as part of the kick-off to Homecoming week.

This year, seven NAA clubs worked locally to make a difference in the lives of others.  Over 50 alumni shared more than 110 hours of service.  Alumni helped to weed, till and seed crops, pack food for distribution, unloaded trucks and sorted children’s items for donation.  Clubs participating included Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Portland, Rockford, Seattle and Southeast Florida.  Some of the organizations that received support included Cradles to Crayons, Marra Farm, Oregon Food Bank, Houston Food Bank, and the Hoo Haven Wildlife Rescue Center.
