NAA, Medill, and Athletics Sponsor Journalism Networking Night

November 18, 2009.  Among the cheering fans, purple hair, and painted faces, Northwestern alumni and undergraduates networked and talked journalism shop at the second basketball game of the season vs. Butler.

Prior to tip-off, more than 60 alumni and student attendees savored hors d’oeuvres provided by Wildfire, including stuffed mushrooms and mini pumpkin pies as they “speed networked” with more than 15 event participants. After dolling out elevator pitches, participants conversed at greater length during the open networking session, sharing stories about working in the journalism trenches and discussing the transition from traditional print media to online newspapers and blogs.

Conversations continued during the game, as participants cheered the Wildcats in the NAA-reserved section of the stadium. Although the Wildcats walked away with a 67-54 loss to Butler, the event participants left cheering.
