More Than 400 Attend "Jobnob" Happy Hour in Chicago
February 24, 2010. Young alumni, job seekers, and start-up companies across Chicagoland gathered to mix and mingle at John Barleycorn in Wrigleyville. The event was the brainchild of Jobnob, a career networking company connecting jobseekers and startups.
Jobnob Happy Hours have been hosted in major cities across the nation including New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The event this past February was Jobnob’s Chicago debut. The Chicago event sponsors included the NAA, NU Club of Chicago, and Kellogg School of Management, along with Big Ten and technology organization sponsors such as University of Illinois, University of Indiana School of Informatics, and the Illinois Technology Association.
Selected companies gave one-minute pitches followed by discussions with job seeker attendees. Julie Greenberg (WCAS93), co-founder of Jobnob, graduated with a BA in Economics as Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. Jobnob was founded to “Empower employees with real information about jobs and companies and to answer the burning questions we all have about jobs”. In addition to the networking events, the Jobnob web site allows members to search for career opportunities, compare salaries, and connect with employers.
