Northwestern Club of Chicago & NU-A5: Chinatown Tour and Banquet-Style Dinner

Chinatown Tour & Banquet-Style Dinner
Colored by Hollywood with images of triads, mah jong parlors, and opium dens, Chinatown is the home of thousands of Chinese immigrants searching for a better life in 美国 (United States - literal translation "beautiful country").
The NU-A5 (Asian & Asian American Alumni Association) and the Northwestern Club of Chicago invite you on a Walking Tour of Chicago's Chinatown ending at the Chinese-American museum, followed by a Chinese banquet-style dinner at Won Kow Restaurant (the oldest and most traditional Chinese eatery in Chicago).
Tour highlights include an introduction to Chinese culture, several Chinatown landmarks, and history of the Chinese community in Chicago. You will have some free time before dinner to wander through the gift shops and local grocery stores where you'll find things that even Trader Joe's won't carry. After dinner, you are on your own if you seek out the mah jong parlors and opium dens.
The fabled "Chinese-language" restaurant menu does exist, but fortunately, we've translated it for you. The banquet-style dinner includes:
1. Assorted Appetizer Plate
2. Soup of the Day
3. Baked Lobster with Light Cream and Fresh Spring Onions
4. Oysters Steamed with Black Bean Sauce
5. Sautéed Diced Chicken with Chili and Pepper, Sichuan Style (Spicy)
6. Shiitake and Bok Choy Hearts
7. Hong Kong T-bone Steak
8. Peking Spare Ribs
9. Seafood in Bird's Nest
10. Noodle dish
This NU-A5 and NUCC "Members Only" group tour is limited to 30 persons.
