"Chicago from the Sky: a Region Transformed"

Join fellow alums and friends at the Cliff Dwellers Club for spectacular summer views of Grant Park and lakefront from the penthouse at 200 South Michigan Ave.; and learn about the far-reaching change that has occurred in Chicago in the span of a single generation.  Urban planner, photographer, author and NU alum Lawrence Okrent (MS, G 1968) will deliver an illustrated presentation based on his new book, Chicago from the Sky: a Region Transformed.  The story of this change, as told in aerial photographs covering the period from 1985 to 2010, is perhaps more dramatic than that of any other era of comparable duration, probably even including the period immediately following the great fire of 1871.

The Cliff Dwellers, an historic private club, founded in 1907 as a meeting place for artists, architects, writers, musicians and civic leaders passionate about the arts, is the perfect venue to engage in discussion about our city and its ongoing transformation, while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and a selection of desserts prepared by the club’s talented chef and staff.

Copies of Mr.Okrent’s book will be available for purchase and signing following his talk.
