Students Learn Finance: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck

On April 23, 2008, more than 100 Northwestern students attended a financial planning event featuring Michael B. Rubin (KSM99), author of Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck. Held in the McCormick Tribune Center Auditorium, the event was the second of six exciting Countdown to Commencement activities sponsored by the Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA).

Rubin offered expert savings advice and engaged students in a discussion about financial planning for the future. All attendees received a free, signed copy of Rubin’s book, and had opportunities to ask questions, network with area alumni in attendance, and learn more about Northwestern alumni career services from NAA representatives.

Many students reported that they left the event with a greater knowledge of finance. “I was impressed by the amount of information [Rubin gave] in his presentation,” commented one student. “Everything he said was something I needed to know.”
