Begin your discovery of its bustling metropolises, picturesque villages and breathtaking countryside in Budapest, Hungary. Visit the Buda and Pest sections of the city to see its famous landmarks, including the Gothic Parliament Building, Opera House and Heroes’ Square. After touring Bratislava, Slovak Republic, visit cultural Vienna, Austria, where the Ringstrasse, Hofburg Palace and other stunning highlights await. Cruise through the charming Wachau Valley, visit Melk, Austria, and then travel to Passau, Germany. Admire this lovely city before continuing to Prague, Czech Republic. Immerse yourself in its medieval ambience as you see the Royal Palace, Charles Bridge and other landmarks.
ITINERARY
Day 1
Depart for Budapest, Hungary, board scheduled jet service. (Provided
for Air Program participants only.)
Day 2 - BUDAPEST
Upon arrival, transfer by motorcoach to the Hotel InterContinental.
(Transfer provided for Air Program participants only.)
Tonight, gather with fellow travelers to attend a Welcome Reception at the hotel.
Day 3 - PRAGUE
Excursion: Budapest City Highlights.
Travel through the Buda and Pest sections of the city to see its many landmarks, including Heroes’ Square, the Castle District, Parliament Building and Fisherman’s Bastion.
Independent Exploration: The remainder of the day is free to explore on your own.
Day 4 - BUDAPEST
Independent Exploration: Your day in Budapest is free for any sightseeing or shopping,
Optional Excursion: Szentendre.
Visit Szentendre, a picturesque town situated on the Danube bend. Explore the the town’s squares and narrow
streets, which are surrounded by Serbian and Baroque architecture.
Day 5 - BUDAPEST / BRATISLAVA
Independent Exploration: Enjoy the morning at leisure.
Later today, transfer to the pier to embark the MS Amadeus Diamond.
Day 6 - BRATISLAVA
Excursion: Bratislava Walking Tour.
See the many highlights of the Slovak Republic’s capital, including St. Martin’s Cathedral and St. Michael’s Gate, which is all that remains of the medieval fortifications that once surrounded the city. See the Primate’s Palace and the old medieval Town Square.
Depart Bratislava and arrive in Vienna later this evening.
Day 7 - VIENNA
Excursion: Imperial Vienna.
View Vienna’s most stately sights, including the Houses of Parliament and the many historic buildings along the Ringstrasse, one of the most impressive boulevards in the world. Visit the Imperial Apartments of the Hofburg Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Schonbrunn Palace.
Day 8 - MELK
Today, admire the beautiful landscape of the Wachau Valley while cruising the waters of the Danube.
Excursion: Melk Abbey.
Visit Melk’s magnificent Benedictine Abbey. Admire this architectural jewel that showcases an opulent interior, extensive library and priceless works of art.
Tonight, attend a Farewell Reception.
Day 9 - PASSAU
This morning, disembark the ship in Passau.
Excursion: Picturesque Passau.
Today’s tour showcases Passau’s many highlights, including the medieval Veste Oberhaus, the Rathaus and
St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home of Europe’s largest pipe organ.
Continue to Prague and check into the Prague Marriott Hotel.
Day 10 - PRAGUE
Excursion: Prague City Sightseeing.
On this morning’s walking tour, stroll across magnificent Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square. Visit the Old Town
Square, known for its Astronomical Clock and Old Town Hall.
Day 11 - PRAGUE
Optional Excursion: Prague Castle.
Visit hilltop Prague Castle, a fairy tale spectacle towering over the banks of the Vltava River. Admire the impressive size of this castle, which dates from the 9th century.
Afterwards, stroll along the famed Golden Lane lined with tiny, colorful cottages.
Day 12
After breakfast, transfer to the Prague airport for the return flight(s) to your gateway city. (Provided for Air Program participants only.)
