Begin your journey in Cesky Krumlov, a town known for its dazzling architecture. Marvel at the charming village of Holasovice and the 13th-century Jindrichuv Hradec, one of the largest castle complexes in the Czech Republic. Experience the pageantry of Prague and admire the fashionable spa town of Karlovy Vary. Discover this land where old and new meet in a union that always delights.

ITINERARY

Day 1
Depart your gateway city Linz, Austria. (Flight provided for Air Package participants only.)

Day 2
Upon arrival, transfer by motorcoach to Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic, and the Hotel Ruze. (Transfer provided for Air Package participants only.)
This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception and Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3
Educational Focus: Bohemia History.

Excursion: Orientation of Cesky Krumlov. Enjoy a morning tour of this unique, historic town. See its impressive castle complex and the stunning baroque theater. Admire the town center, with its dazzling array of medieval, Renaissance and baroque architecture.

Independent Exploration: The rest of the day is free to discover the many charms of Cesky Krumlov on your own.

Day 4
Excursion:
Holasovice. Today’s journey begins with a visit to the village of Holasovice, known for its 18th- and 19th-century buildings constructed in the South Bohemian Folk Baroque style.

Excursion: Jindrichuv Hradec. This afternoon, visit the 13th-century Jindrichuv Hradec. Admire its extensive assortment of well-preserved Renaissance furnishings.

Educational Focus: Meet the People.

Day 5
Depart Cesky Krumlov for Plzen. Upon arrival, check into the Marriott Courtyard Plzen.

Educational Focus: The Velvet Revolution.

Local Flavor: Enjoy a delicious lunch en route to Plzen.

Excursion: Plzen City Tour. See the many delights of this enchanting city, including the Church of St. Bartholomew and the Great Synagogue, the third largest in the world. Visit the birthplace of pale lager, the Pilsner Urquell brewery, and enjoy a tour and tasting.

Day 6
Excursion: Prague. Travel to the magnificent city of Prague. See the spectacular Charles Bridge and visit Prague Castle. Marvel at its 10th-century structures and St. Vitus Cathedral, the spiritual heart of the Czech Republic. Conclude at the Jewish Quarter, known for the oldest synagogue in Europe.

Independent Exploration: Take advantage of free time to explore the Old Town Square on your own.

Day 7
Educational Focus: Contemporary Czech Republic and the E.U.

Excursion: Moser Glass Factory and Karlovy Vary. Visit the Moser Glass Factory and its museum, which features exhibits on the development of Czech glass-making. Learn about this ancient art, then continue to Karlovy Vary. The oldest and largest of Bohemia’s spa towns, it is famous for being frequented by members of royalty such as Czar Peter the Great and Emperor Franz Josef. See the splendid spa buildings, walk along the Mill Colonnade and visit the Russian Orthodox Church, known for its five golden onion domes.

Day 8
Independent Exploration: The day is at leisure to pursue independent interests. You may wish to take the complimentary shuttle to Prague to continue your exploration of this vibrant city.

Tonight, attend a Farewell Reception and Graduation Ceremony, followed by dinner at the hotel.

Day 9
Transfer to the Prague airport for the return flight to your gateway city. (Transfer and flight provided for Air Package participants only.)
