Service and Club Awards
The Northwestern Alumni Association recognized several alumni and clubs for outstanding contributions to the University at the Service and Club Awards reception in September.
Service to Northwestern
Presented to alumni in recognition of leadership and service excellence rendered to the University via the Northwestern Alumni Association, an affiliated alumni group, school or unit, or other University associated program.
Charles L. Katzenmeyer ’85, ’89 MBA

Charles L. Katzenmeyer is vice president for institutional advancement at the Field Museum. He has served as a past president of the Northwestern Alumni Association, chair of NU Loyal, and member of all his reunion committees since 1985. A longtime member of Northwestern’s Delta Tau Delta Fraternity House Board, Charles founded the University’s LGBT Homecoming Reception. He earned a BA in political science and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
Stacey A. Lauren ’87 (’18, ’21 P)

Stacey A. Lauren is a learning specialist who works with middle school students. She codirects the New York chapter of the Alumni Admission Council (AAC), co-chairs the AAC Advisory Board, and serves as a member of the Northwestern University Leadership Circle (NULC) New York Regional Board and NULC New York Regional Campaign Committee. A past reunion committee member, she cofounded the NU Club of New York’s young alumni group. Stacey earned a BS in radio/television/film and political science
Bruce F. Scharschmidt ’68, ’70 MD

Bruce F. Scharschmidt is an independent director, co-founder, and/or consultant to biotechnology companies. As past president, he reorganized and revitalized the Medical Alumni Association National Board. He currently sits on the Board’s executive committee, sponsors medical students to attend Northwestern football games, and helps lead mentoring and entrepreneurship initiatives. He earned a BS and MD from the Feinberg School of Medicine Honors Program in Medical Education.
NAA President's Award
Presented to alumni in recognition of loyal service rendered to the Northwestern Alumni Association. The NAA President’s Award is an inaugural honor in 2018.
Peter Xue ’12

Peter Xue is founder of a private equity company that focuses on the Chinese real estate market and entertainment industries. A 2019 Schwarzman Scholar, Peter is vice president of the NU Club of Beijing and volunteers for the Alumni Admission Council. He received a BS in civil and environmental engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering.
Club Leader of the Year
Presented to alumni in recognition of leadership and service excellence rendered to an affinity, international, and/or local club.
Carlos Paret ’13 MBA,
NU Club of Orange County

Carlos Paret is a global marketing executive for Edwards Lifesciences. He is president of both the NU Club of Orange County and the Kellogg Alumni Club of Orange County. Previously, Carlos served on the Northwestern Alumni Association’s mentorship committee and as the Kellogg Alumni Club of LA’s chief marketing officer. He received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
