The Northwestern Alumni Advocacy Network is a community of alumni and friends committed to advancing the University’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. This initiative is led by the Northwestern Alumni Association.

What’s at Stake
Since January, a series of federal actions and proposals have significantly disrupted the higher education landscape, severely affecting Northwestern’s ability to fulfill our teaching and research missions. Among those actions are changing rules and guidelines pertaining to international students and scholars; a proposed increase to the endowment tax that would negatively impact our budget; and potential changes to federal contributions to our indirect research costs.
This is a moment of truth for our institution. We remain steadfast in our dedication to groundbreaking research, to academic freedom, and to creating an environment in which the most talented scholars and students from around the world come to teach, learn, and explore new frontiers of knowledge for the betterment of humanity.
