Chris Galvin ’73, ’77 MBA (’11 P)
Global business and civic leader
Chris Galvin is cofounder and chairman of Gore Creek Asset Management LLC, a private Chicago-based wealth management investment firm. Previously, Galvin was cofounder and chairman of Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, a real estate investment management firm. He was chairman and CEO of Motorola Inc, a global technology company, from 1997 to early 2004.
Galvin served as a young alumni trustee on the Northwestern Board of Trustees from 1980 to 1982 and was re-elected to the board in 1988. He became a life trustee in 2020. He has served on the Kellogg School of Management Global Advisory Board since 2013. He also was a member and co-chair of the steering committee for We Will. The Campaign for Northwestern. Galvin has served as chair and co-chair for his 40th, 45th, and 50th Reunions.
Today, Galvin sits on the boards of Colliers International, Three Ocean Partners, Infleqtion, and American Enterprise Institute, and is chairman of UncommonX. He is a leadership council member of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School. Galvin also serves on the advisory boards of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management and the Global and National Security Institute and was awarded the Légion d’Honneur medal from France.
Galvin graduated from Northwestern with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management. He and his wife, Cynthia B. Galvin ’78, have two children: David ’11 MBA and William. Several other members of his family attended Northwestern, including his mother, Mary B. Galvin ’45. His father, Robert W. Galvin ’92 H, received an honorary degree from the University in 1992.
