Career FAQs
I am an alum looking for a new job. What resources are available to me?
Through Wildcats at Work, the NAA partners with Northwestern Career Advancement to offer alumni access to a job posting platform, allowing alumni to search for jobs and internships.
Becoming a mentee in the Northwestern Network Mentorship Program provides opportunities to network and speak with alumni working in a variety of industries and companies. It should not be used to ask people for jobs or internships, but it is a way to learn more about fields of interest and potentially network into companies.
The Career Webinar Series has weekly live webinars on how to stand out as an applicant, how to handle job search stress in the digital age, and much more. Students and alumni can access the Northwestern Career Advancement job board to view job and internship postings. The Northwestern University Alumni group on LinkedIn is another place to network and to connect with alumni who are looking for top candidates.
I am looking to make a career transition and/or change industries. What resources does the NAA have to help me get started?
The NAA has several resources to help you through your career transition.
As you’re exploring options, the Northwestern Intersections podcast can help you learn about different career paths directly from alumni career stories. The Career Webinar Series offers weekly professional development presentations and has upcoming and recorded webinars on career change, finding your purpose in your career, and much more.
Students and alumni can be mentees in the Northwestern Network Mentorship Program. You can search for alumni mentors working in specific industries or at companies you’re interested in. Once you’ve matched with a mentor or two you, can have informational interviews with them to learn about their work, practice interviewing, and much more.
Finally, the Northwestern University Alumni LinkedIn group is a place to connect with alumni who may be working through similar transitions and to learn through thought leadership shared by the Northwestern network.
